Hillbilly is a classic landrace Psilocybe cubensis genetics from the southeastern United
States, particularly the Appalachian region.
The name refers to the rural and mountainous character of the areas from which this strain
originates. The Hillbilly Growkit is valued by researchers for its stable development and
distinctive, “natural” morphology.
Hillbilly genetics
Appearance: Medium-sized caps, usually 5–7 cm in diameter, ranging from light brown to
gold, with slightly rounded and sometimes wavy edges. The stem is sturdy, thick and white
with a creamy tone, and tends to bruise blue clearly where damaged.
Origin: A natural genetics from the southeastern United States, especially the rural and
mountainous Appalachians. Traditionally associated with habitats rich in organic matter.
Profile: A stable, classic Psilocybe cubensis line with clear landrace traits. It works well as
comparative material against newer, heavily selected hybrids and isolates.
